Regent Street Festival 2007: An Indian Summer

Sunday 2nd September 2007 will see the highly anticipated eighth annual Regent Street Festival take place. Billed as one of the exciting finale events of London’s ‘India Now’ season, a three-month season celebrating London’s strengthening relationship with India and also exploring India’s culture and its contribution to London life, this year’s festival will showcase all the flair, culture and magic of one of the most magnificent and diverse countries in the world.

From 12.00noon until 8.00pm one of the capital’s most impressive thoroughfares will be closed to traffic and dance processions and musical displays will come together to transport audiences to a country known for hosting the world’s most exotic festivals. Performers from India and the UK will come together in an array of varied performances that will entertain the watching crowds whilst Regent Street’s famous stores will host in-store activities and offer special promotions.

India is home to one of the world’s most significant and rapidly expanding economies as well as one of the most important cultures in the world. The India Now season will take in events, activities and festivals across the capital. The season, which is set to launch on Tuesday 17th July, is supported by the Mayor of London, Visit London, The Crown Estate, The Regent Street Association, The New West End Company and Westminster City Council.
